The Benelli 828 U Silver is an Italian over-and-under hunting shotgun combining an elegant silver-finished receiver, walnut furniture, low weight and advanced engineering developed to provide secure locking, individual stock fitting and improved shooting comfort.
The exact configuration with manufacturer number A0455100 is chambered in 12/76 Magnum and features 28-inch barrels, a right-handed walnut stock, two-shot capacity and fitted Improved Cylinder / Modified interchangeable chokes.
The number 828 is connected with Urbino, the historic home of Benelli. With the 828 U, the manufacturer did not simply adapt a conventional over-and-under action. The platform was developed around a different locking principle, a lightweight receiver and a stock that can be configured for the individual shooter.
The Silver version is distinguished by its nickel-plated and engraved receiver, oil-finished walnut and clean lines that flow naturally between the metalwork, pistol grip and fore-end.
The result is a vertically barrelled hunting shotgun that preserves the traditional appearance of walnut and engraved metal while incorporating technologies rarely combined in a conventional over-and-under design.
In many traditional over-and-under shotguns, a significant part of the firing load is transferred to the receiver and hinge components. The 828 U uses Benelli’s patented Lock Plate system – a separate hardened-steel plate that locks directly against the barrel monobloc.
This keeps the firing pressure concentrated between the monobloc and the steel locking plate instead of unnecessarily loading the aluminium receiver and hinge pins. The design allows the receiver to be manufactured from lightweight Ergal without relying on the softer aluminium alloy as the primary pressure-bearing locking component.
The receiver is manufactured from high-strength Ergal aluminium alloy, then nickel-plated and finished with refined engraving. The lightweight construction contributes to an overall weight below 3 kg, while the Lock Plate functions as the primary steel locking element.
The flowing lines of the receiver continue into the wrist of the stock, with the engraving following the shape of the metal instead of appearing as an isolated decorative panel. This gives the Silver version a distinctive identity within the wider 828 U family.
Lightweight construction manufactured from a high-strength aluminium alloy.
A bright metallic surface that highlights the engraving and elegant receiver contours.
The locking system and highly stressed areas do not depend solely on aluminium.
The approximate 2.980 kg weight supports comfortable carrying throughout the day.
Behind the traditional appearance of the walnut stock is Benelli’s Progressive Comfort system. It uses flexible internal elements that react progressively according to the energy generated by the cartridge.
With a lighter load, the system flexes less, while more powerful cartridges activate a greater degree of deformation. This allows the stock to retain its traditional wooden profile without visible external mechanisms while helping to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise.
The level of deformation changes according to recoil energy.
The soft contact surface complements the action of the internal comfort system.
Helps reduce the transmission of sharp vibration to the cheek and ear area.
The stock of the Benelli 828 U Silver is not limited to a single fixed factory geometry. Using the supplied plates and shims, the Perfect Fitting system allows adjustment of the drop at heel and the lateral cast of the stock.
Drop can be set from 42.5 to 65 mm in 2.5 mm increments, while cast can be adjusted by 3 or 6 mm to the right or left. This creates 40 available combinations that can be selected according to the shooter’s build, stance and natural gun mount.
The exact configuration uses the standard distance from the trigger to the heel of the stock.
Length of pull can be altered with the appropriate shorter or longer recoil pad.
The product shown is equipped with a stock and fitting arrangement intended for a right-handed shooter.
The two vertically arranged barrels measure 28 inches / 71 cm and are manufactured using Benelli’s Power Bore system. The internal profile is precisely selected, while the barrels and compatible choke tubes undergo cryogenic treatment.
The cryogenic process supports material stability and consistent behaviour during repeated firing. Its purpose is to maintain stable geometry, support even shot distribution and reduce the adhesion of fouling to the internal surfaces.
A selected internal barrel profile with a maximum nominal bore of up to 18.5 mm.
Cryogenic treatment of the barrels and choke tubes for stable and consistent performance.
A lightweight 7 mm top rib that reduces unnecessary mass above the barrels.
A clearly visible front reference positioned above the dark barrel rib.
The 828 U trigger group is compact and can be removed from the receiver using the dedicated Benelli tool. This provides access for professional inspection and servicing without unnecessary disassembly of the rest of the shotgun.
The single trigger is selective. A selector integrated into the safety slide allows the shooter to choose which barrel fires first, after which the mechanism automatically switches to the second barrel.
The ejector system is positioned in the barrel monobloc and activated by the pressure generated by a fired cartridge. Fired cases are ejected, while unfired cartridges are lifted for manual removal.
A compact separate assembly that can be accessed during qualified professional servicing.
The shooter can select the lower or upper barrel for the first shot.
They react to a fired cartridge and do not automatically eject an unfired round.
The stock and fore-end are manufactured from selected walnut with an oil finish. The finish highlights the natural grain and gives the wood a more authentic feel than a thick high-gloss lacquer.
The pistol grip is shaped to position the hand securely behind the trigger, while the chequered areas on the grip and fore-end improve control in damp or cold conditions.
Every stock has its own natural colour, grain structure and pattern.
Enhances the texture of the wood and allows appropriate future maintenance.
The exact A0455100 product is configured for a right-handed shooter.
The approximate 2.980 kg weight is achieved through the combination of an Ergal receiver, carbon-fibre rib and carefully distributed mass. This makes the Benelli 828 U Silver comfortable to carry throughout a full hunting day without making it feel excessively light or unstable in motion.
The 28-inch barrels support a smooth swing, while the adjustable stock allows the handling qualities of the shotgun to be used more effectively by the individual shooter. The 828 U does not rely on low weight alone, but on the combined effect of balance, geometry and recoil management.
The sub-3 kg weight helps reduce fatigue during movement and long hunting days.
A versatile barrel length with smooth movement and stable handling.
Perfect Fitting allows the stock to be configured for the shooter.
Progressive Comfort and the polyurethane contact components improve shooting comfort.
